Lambs

A much smaller yarding of an estimated 7,500 very mixed quality crossbred and Merino lambs sold to erratic bidding from the usual local and interstate trade and processor buyers at the SA Livestock Exchange.

Feeders and restockers were quiet and operated on very light weight crossbreds and Merinos. A reasonable selection of new season crossbred lambs was yarded.

• Light weight new season lambs sold from $90 to $105/head.
• Light trade weight new season lambs returned $130 to $141/head, or from 567¢ to 650¢/kg cwt.
• Light weight older crossbred lambs to trade buyers sold from $105 to $112/head, averaging 514¢/kg cwt.
• Light trade weight older 3 scores remained unchanged selling from $104 to $120/head, to average 504¢/kg cwt.
• Heavy trade weight older 4 scores were firm, they sold from $118 to $144/head and averaged 545c/kg cwt
• Heavy weight older 4 score prices retreated $2 to $10, selling from $121 to $154/head, returning 522¢ to 569¢/kg cwt.
• Extra heavy weights sold from $170 to $182/head.

Mutton

A smaller yarding of an estimated 1,500 head was yarded at the SA Livestock Exchange. Processor demand was strong.

• Light weight 2 score ewes lifted $9, selling from $55 to $85/head, averaging 314¢/kg cwt.
• Heavy weight 3 score ewes lifted $10, selling from $70 to $114/head to average 334¢/kg cwt.
• Heavy weight wethers were scarce, they lifted $9, selling from $98 to $116/head, to average 362¢/kg cwt.
• Heavy weight rams sold from $70 to $100/head.
