Yardings back
Numbers across the state decreased through most of the larger selling centres and overall throughput was back 16% from last week, at 7,878 head.
- Pakenham yarded 1,109 head, an 11% increase on last week
- Shepparton totalled 1,500 head, down 25%
- Warrnambool totalled 742 head, back 35%
- Leongatha yarded 18% fewer cattle, at 1,149 head
- NVLX decreased 14%, to 1,581 head
- Camperdown yarded 917 head, up 14%
- Bairnsdale and Colac both increased on last week, yarding 591 head and 289 head, respectively
Prices mostly ease
Vealer heifers were limited in number and prices trended downward in the heavier weight lines. Heavy C3 heifers eased 12¢, averaging 316¢/kg.
Heavy yearling steers to feed sold from 265¢ to 341¢, to average 322¢, up 2¢/kg.
Medium yearling heifers stayed solid, with C3 lines ranging from 294¢ to 346¢, to average 323¢/kg, firm on last week. Heavier yearling heifers, however, had a slight increase on last week, up 2¢, to average 326¢kg.
Heavy grown steers had a slight loss, with C3 lines to slaughter down 9¢, averaging 316¢. C4 bullocks also eased, back 2¢ week-on-week, to average 323¢kg.
Heavy D4 cows eased 4¢, ranging from 248¢ to 285¢, to average of 262¢/kg.
