Lamb
Lamb supply decreased by 33% week-on-week, to total 19,951 head, with all selling centres recording a decrease.
- Numbers at Ballarat and Hamilton more than halved, to 5,344 head and 2,222 head, respectively
- Throughput at Horsham slipped 20%, to 3,021 head
- Numbers at Bendigo were reduced by 7% week-on-week, to 9,364 head
Light weight 2 score Merino lambs were 9¢ dearer, on 537¢, while similar first cross lambs gained 39¢, averaging 550¢ and light weights to slaughter were 3¢ cheaper on 554¢/kg cwt.
The 3 score light trade weights sold for an average of 597¢, back 5¢ while heavier trade weight descriptions eased 28¢, to 570¢/kg cwt.
Heavy weight lambs to processors were 21¢ dearer on 617¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
Mutton consignments also eased, back 9% week-on-week, to offer 15,229 head.
- Sheep numbers at Hamilton more than halved, to 1,496 head
- Horsham penned 2,037 head, back 29%
- Supply at Bendigo jumped by 32%, to offer 7,736 head
Light weight 2 score Merino ewes were 14¢ dearer, on 383¢, while medium weights averaged 371¢, back 29¢ and medium weight 3 score Merinos were 18¢ dearer, averaging 400¢/kg cwt.
Medium weight 2 score Merino wethers slipped 39¢, to 358¢, and 3 scores eased 14¢ to return 394¢/kg cwt.
