Lamb
Victorian lamb throughput increased by 21% week-on-week, with a total of 57,060 head yarded in MLA reported saleyards.
- Bendigo consignments jumped by 24% to 27,763 head
- Ballarat lamb supply reached 14,516 head, up 10%
- Horsham yarding’s totalled 13,560 head, representing a decline of 3%
- Hamilton throughput increased 21%, to yard 1,221 head
Light weight new season lambs were bought by restockers for up to 600¢ and were 64¢ cheaper, averaging 504¢ while heavier light weight lambs returned to the paddock for 476¢, back 56¢/kg cwt. 3 score trade weight new season lambs to slaughter reached 548¢ and averaged 501¢, down 41¢ and heavy weight new season lambs sold between 529¢ and 472¢ and averaged 500¢, down 40¢ cwt.
Old season 2 score Merino light weight lambs slipped 57¢, selling between 285¢ and 400¢ and averaging 361¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
Sheep consignments increased 1% week-on-week, with 24,878 head yarded across the state.
- Bendigo throughput reduced 21%, to yard 9,160 head
- Ballarat consignments doubled, with numbers reaching 9,088 head
- Hamilton supply slipped 68% to 2,298 head
- Horsham yarded 4,332 head, down 38%
Light weight Merino ewes sold between 240¢ and 344¢, to average 304¢, down 24¢, while medium weight 2 score crossbred ewes slipped 49¢, averaging 268¢/kg cwt.
Medium weight 3 score Merino ewes sold between 267¢ and 350¢ and averaged 316¢, down 32¢/kg cwt. Heavy weight crossbred 3 score ewes averaged 243¢, while medium weight 3 score Merino wethers averaged 318¢, down 48¢/kg cwt.
