WA weekly cattle summary

Supplies build

WA cattle supply lifted 29% week-on-week, totalling 4,780 head, as Boyanup market retuned after the long weekend with 910 head yarded.

  • Muchea supplied 17% fewer cattle, at 2,486 head
  • Mt Barker supply lifted 95%, to 1,384 head.

Prices mostly higher

Light weight C2 vealer steers to feed averaged 333¢, while C3 vealer heifers to feed gained 18¢ to average 283¢/kg.

Medium weight C2 yearling steers to feed were 9¢ cheaper on 297¢, while C3 lines to slaughter were 38¢ dearer on 280¢/kg. Light weight pastoral D2 yearling heifers lifted 10¢ to 158¢, while medium weights to feed were 1¢ higher on 261¢/kg.

Heavy weight C3 grown steers to slaughter eased 13¢ to average 246¢, while medium weight D3 grown pastoral heifer’s averaged 222¢/kg.

Light weight D2 pastoral cows lifted 10¢ to 157¢, while medium weight D3 lines gained 7¢ to 196¢/kg. Heavy weight D3 cows to slaughter increased 3¢ to average 200¢/kg.
