Supply remains solid
Supply across WA markets was firm week-on-week at 3,710 despite the Monday’s public holiday meaning there was no sale at Boyanup.
- Throughput at Mount Barker eased slightly to 710 head
- Muchea yarded 3,000 head, up around 500 head from last week.
Supply at Muchea outstripped demand seeing the market fall 10¢ to 30¢/kg. Competition was strong from all the buyers at Mount Barker.
Prices lower
Light weight C2 yearling steers to feed were 15¢ cheaper on 306¢, while heavy weight C2 pastoral lines averaged 232¢/kg. Medium weight C2 pastoral yearling heifers settled on 181¢, while heavy weight C3 lines to slaughter lost 21¢ to 239¢/kg.
The Western Young Cattle Indicator (WYCI) was 44¢ lower week-on-week, at 509.75¢/kg cwt, with only Muchea and Mt Barker contributing.
Medium weight C3 grown steers to feed were 10¢ cheaper on 280¢, while heavy weight lines to slaughter slipped 18¢ to 259¢/kg.
Light weight D2 pastoral cows eased 18¢ to average 147¢, while medium weights were 8¢ cheaper on 181¢/kg.
Light weight C2 pastoral bulls gained 24¢ to average 264¢, while D2 lines were 27¢ higher on 190¢/kg.
