WA weekly cattle summary

Supplies increase
Warm conditions in the west saw cattle yardings lift 9% week-on-week, to 2,987 head. Quality of cattle at Muchea remained good, although most were of pastoral origin. Quality at Boyanup was plainer this week, however there was solid support from processors and restockers.
- Boyanup supplies remain steady at 288 head.
- Mount Barker more than tripled its throughput to 797 head
- Muchea yardings eased 17%, to 1,902 head
Prices lift
Medium weight C3 yearling steers to feed were 15¢ dearer on 331¢, while light weight D2 pastoral yearling heifers gained 3¢ to average 220¢/kg.
Heavy weight grown steers to slaughter lifted 2¢ to average 281¢/kg. Medium weight D2 pastoral grown heifers lifted 5¢ to average 195¢, while D3 lines lost 4¢ to average 230¢/kg. Medium weight D3 pastoral cows increased 14¢ to settle on 216¢/kg.
The Western Young Cattle Indicator (WYCI) averaged 592.25¢/kg cwt.
