Lambs
WA lamb supply eased 24% week-on-week, to 8,000 head.
- Katanning throughput eased 40%, to 3,000 head
- Yardings at Muchea were 9% lower, on 5,000 head
Quality of young lambs slipped at Muchea, with many having been shorn. Quality was also plainer at Katanning, resulting in prices easing.
Light weight 3 score young lambs to slaughter were unchanged on 459¢, while 3 score lines eased 22¢ to average 466¢/kg cwt. Trade weight 3 score young lambs to slaughter were 4¢ dearer on 453¢/kg cwt. Young lambs topped at $110/head, for a line of 3 score heavy weights to slaughter.
Mutton
WA mutton supply lifted 17% week-on-week, to 17,369 head.
- Katanning supply increased 11%, to 8,205 head
- Muchea yarded 23% more sheep, at 9,164 head
Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes slipped 26¢ to average 226¢, while 3 score lines were 29¢ cheaper on 228¢/kg cwt. Heavy weight 3 score Merino ewes decreased 30¢ to average 220¢/kg cwt. Young wethers topped at $116/head, for a lines of heavy weight 3 scores to live export.
