Summary

In 2003, MLA published Guidelines for the safe manufacture of smallgoods, which has become the industry standard as well as being accepted by authorities as a basis for acceptable practice, control and audit. MLA proposes to update the guidelines as there has been numerous changes in the industry since 2003.
The new 2nd edition for the Guidelines for the Safe Manufacture of Smallgoods, will present up-to-date information that comes from MLA's food safety program, which conducts research and investigates technical issues that a manufacturer of smallgoods needs to know to produce a safe product. An expert panel has been formed to direct the writing of the guide. The panel includes subject matter experts, regulatory representative and smallgoods industry representatives who have an interest in food safety and are able to provide leadership to their industry colleagues.
