Summary

This project aimed to register a quality controlled commercial bovine plasma product that can meet the needs of producers who have valuable cattle that require plasma treatment. In veterinary medicine, plasma is used in both pet and equine industries to medically treat certain diseases and to increase passive immunity; for example, to treat failure of passive transfer (FPT) of immunity when neonatal mammals do not receive colostrum. However, no quality controlled commercial plasma products are registered for use in cattle in Australia. This project has seen the development of a new plasma product for cattle (Boviplas), the first of its kind in Australia.
