Summary

Vietnam is a growing market for both Australian beef and cattle. There is a need for an increased understanding and on-ground presence in the market to support the expansion of the trade.

Recently there has been investment by key Vietnamese importers towards producing improved quality beef products processed locally. There is also a push from the Vietnamese Government to support these developments through assisted policy and marketing programs.

Objectives

1. Support the Vietnam Livestock Services Manager in the delivery of the three main Programs of Work:
-regulatory reform (especially with the MARD)
-business development
-consumer transition (including supporting beef marketing programs for both live and boxed beef exports from Australia)
2. Support LGAP implementation by the AniMark Company.
3. Build relationships with key Vietnamese stakeholders to ensure insights are accurate and current.
4. Assist visiting consultants to find interpreters, and with travel and other logistical needs.
5. Provide market intelligence and monitor and report on media coverage of the livestock and meat trade.
6. Interpret and print materials to support workshops and other training requirements.

Key findings

Strong support on-the-ground has helped gain market insights and strengthen industry relationships.

Provides another reliable source of on-the-ground information in market for exporters and importers to liaise with key industry stakeholders and develop trade positive relationships.
