Summary

This project will provide a short and sharp insight into the current priorities and sentiment of the industry to verify the LEP R&D priorities identified in 2021 remain priorities for this year and in the near future. This survey can also be used to determine how effective current sentiments and extension strategies are. The intention is to give Industry a forum for current sentiments and or concerns and a structure for the LEP RD&E to respond or provide updates as appropriate.

Objectives

This project aligns with the strategic priorities from the Livestock Export R&D as follows:

  • As an industry services body, the LEP actions and work reflect five defining attributes: responsiveness, integrity, objectivity, innovation, and reliability to provide research, development and extension (RD&E) and marketing services designed to foster best practice and continuous improvement in animal health and welfare outcomes for Australia’s livestock export industry.
  • The LEP exists in order to serve its members and levy payers and, through them, the livestock export industry. The organisation’s mandate requires it to consult with its stakeholders.

Key findings

The outcomes of this project will identify the critical points within the livestock export industry supply chain to target future investment and extension and adoption strategies.

Benefits to industry

It is a high priority for the livestock export industry (producers and exporters) to encourage greater uptake of RD&E outcomes across the industry to reduce risks, increase supply chain productivity and support industry sustainability.
