Summary

For the most part, Australia enjoys favourable economic and technical market access conditions in North America, particularly the US. However, some areas continue to prove challenging e.g. non-tariff trade barriers (NTBs) such as shipping mark requirements, flat stacking of carcases and labeling issues. In addition, the Meat Standards Australia (MSA) grading language still has not been utilised to its fullest extent in this market.

Objectives

Continue to improve economic and/or technical market access to the US and Canada.
