New and improved LPA NVD (Goats)

A new version of the Livestock Production Assurance National Vendor Declaration (LPA NVD) for goats was released in May 2017. These changes ensure the NVD better reflects current practices in the goat meat industry.
The new version, GO517, is now available electronically via the eNVD system or in NVD booklets ordered through the LPA Service Centre. GO517 is included as the latest LPA NVD for goats in the LPA Rules (V1.18), in its Annexure 2.
As per the LPA Rules, both GO413 and GO517 are accepted as current versions.
The new LPA NVD (Goats) now better reflects that harvested rangeland goats can be moved without a tag, if they are moved from the property where they were caught directly to an abattoir for slaughter or to a registered goat depot.
Changes were also made to clarify the wording of some questions and definitions of a ‘harvested rangeland goat’ and a ‘registered goat depot’ were added to the explanatory notes.
The new goat NVDs are expected to enter circulation by the end of January 2018.
Together with the LPA program and National Livestock Identification System (NLIS), the NVD is a critical part of the Australian red meat industry’s integrity system – a system of food safety measures, quality assurance and traceability from paddock to plate guarantees the integrity of Australia’s $22.9 billion red meat industry.
