Summary

Resources on sheep education and careers in the sheep industry available to teachers and students in schools and the VET (vocational and education training) system are outdated and no longer reflect the changes that have taken place within the sheep and wool industry over the past two decades.
This project delivered a Merino Sheep Breeding Guide and Internal Parasites Guide for teachers and students, collated information on individual sheep identification systems technology into a teaching package for VET and school teachers, produced a careers CD to show the career paths and options available to students for careers in the sheep industry for on farm, post farm, marketing and processing. To support integration of the materials into learning systems professional development workshops were conducted with teachers, VET professionals, career advisors and support service industries This project was a collaborative project funded by a number of industry organization and was managed by the Sheep CRC.
