Summary

Foodservice is an important sales channel for beef, lamb and goat. Unlike retail, there is not a single domestic data source that has complete representation of this channel. In order to maintain insight and develop strategy and priorities for this important channel, MLA subscribes to different data sources.

Overtime, subscription has included BIS, Food industry foresight, Global Data and others.

The main outputs include access to regular reports about the state of the foodservice industry, the breakdown of the industry by sector (commercial vs institutional, with subdivisions in each), the usage of beef and lamb, and factors influencing this usage. Multiple reports are accessed and retained (where possible according to contracts). Contracts restrict the ability of the reports being made publicly available. There are some resources that can be shared live with Australian red meat companies.
