Summary

The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) invited stakeholders to provide comment on the draft report on its review of the import requirements for fresh (chilled or frozen) beef and beef products for human consumption from Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United States and Vanuatu.

Of particular interest to the Australian red meat and livestock industry was the proposal to import beef from the USA, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Vanuatu. The import of beef has been a subject of significant industry scrutiny previously.

This project involved a specialist review of the DAWR draft report, to support industry's engagement in the consultation process.
