MLA and previously the Meat Research Coorporation provides scholarship stipends and technical assistance grants for Australian citizens and permanent residents to undertake graduate research into areas of interest and need to the Australian red meat industry. Students are placed in Australian universities and are awarded scholarships on a competative basis.
In additon MLA provides access to a postgraduate student conference in combination with CRC students and supports some travel to conferences. Projects are also created to advertise and support the program. Some moving thesis and fee support is also provided.
Upon completion of their studies, more than 70% of students supported by this scheme continue to work within the red meat and livestock industry and a significant proportion go on to play important leadership roles in agricultural and livestock industries.
