Summary

Several Rural Research and Development Corporations (RDCs) have come together to progress a collective approach to build research capability and understanding of issues around community trust and social license across agricultural industries.

Australia’s rural industries share common reputational risks. Erosion of community trust can lead to more difficult regulatory and market environments, and negatively affect industry productivity, profitability and sustainability.

This project aims to scope a work program for joint-RDC investment that directly addresses community trust issues.

There is the opportunity for a collective approach to build research capability and understanding of issues around community trust and social license the agricultural industries.

Benefits to industry

This project will help to investigate ways that the RDCs can collaboratively support improvements in community trust in its rural industries. This in turn will also support productivity, profitability and sustainability.

MLA action

MLA will use the outcomes of this project to inform future investments into research around community trust in its industries.

Future research

Further research will be required to execute the activities identified from this scoping study.
