Summary
The purpose of this project was for the writing and delivery of 23 producer case studies for the Meat Standards Australia 2021 Excellence in Eating Quality Awards series.
Objectives
MSA Case Studies:
- Interview producers, draft and manage approvals of 23 case studies.
Media releases:
- Draft and manage approvals of media releases over course of awards series.
Project management:
- Phone, data storage, administration, local travel.
All work will be completed at the direction of MLA/MSA.
Key findings
Sharing producers’ stories with industry highlighting leaders in carcase production focused on eating quality, has been shown to be an excellent tool in providing guidance to other producers to make improvements in their production systems.
Benefits to industry
These awards recognise producers making good on-farm decisions and practice change with the information and tools available to them. It is important to be able to share the producers’ stories with industry to highlight leaders in carcase production focused on eating quality and provide guidance to other producers to make improvements in their production systems.
MLA action
The MSA case studies were distributed to the industry and were published in relevant communication materials.
Future research
Further investment in this area is required to generate producer case studies in future years. They have been shown to be great tools in providing guidance to other producers to make improvements in their production systems.
