Summary

The Sheep Sustainability Framework (SSF) identifies critical sustainability issues for the sheepmeat and wool industries to determine key priorities on which to focus and measure progress over time, using data for appropriate indicators and metrics.

Sound reporting reliably tracks changes over time, showcases strong performance, and identifies areas that require improvement. Moreover, it demonstrates industry transparency and a willingness to continuously evaluate, renovate and innovate the production of ethically, environmentally, socially, and financially responsible sheepmeat and wool.

To date, the SSF’s data has been embedded in a PDF document. This limits the accessibility and readability of the report.
The transition to a customisable, web-based visual insights dashboard will ensure data is publicly accessible, intuitively presented, and simple to interpret. Improving the overall user experience will make the industry frameworks more meaningful and impactful over time.

Project Dash is the first part of a staged approach to develop a standardised template that can populated with data to enable a web-based digital data dashboard.

Objectives

The objectives are to:
• Analyse source data collection workbooks and identify commonalities and the required break up of columns to create a standardised template for ingestion purposes.
• Complete and test standardised template format. Ensure it captures all required data-points, including secondary points such as declaration rates, certain lagged year scenarios, category splits and dynamically updated notes for tooltips.
