Summary

This project covered the Annual Service Agreement for Goat Industry Council of Australia, which covered consultation, animal health & welfare and biosecurity activities.

Objectives

  • Consultation with the goat industry to provide information on national goat industry priorities to MLA, to inform investments in RD&A and marketing.
  • Provide input into national animal health and welfare and biosecurity activities and initiatives.

  • Goat sector priorities were provided to MLA for consideration in investment decisions.
  • Input was provided into national animal health, welfare and biosecurity activities.
  • MLA outcomes were communicated to goat producers.

The representative organisation for the goat sector supported to carry out initiatives identified by the sector.

MLA action

MLA continues to support industry leadership and capability building for the red meat industry. Feedback from a number of initiatives within the project has been incorporated in planned for the FY22 service agreement to provide more targeted investments and use of funds.

MLA will continue to use information collected through the GICA Service Agreement to inform investment decisions in line with Red Meat 2030.
