Summary

The Integrity Systems Company (ISC) is responsible for providing data platforms and infrastructure to support and underpin the Australian red meat industry's food safety, quality assurance and traceability systems, from paddock to plate.

This project evaluated several engagement models through which ISC could collaborate more effectively with and provide value to solution providers. The project also took a systemised approach to identify and deliver a categorised database of 128 technology solution providers that ISC can now collaborate with to support delivery of its strategic initiatives.

Objectives

The objective of this project was to outline the feasibility of new engagement models for the ISC, which will improve collaboration with commercial solution providers.

Key findings

The key areas where engagement activity by ISC can increase its impact are:

  • awareness and adoption
  • application and incentives
  • capital and resources.

A framework for solution provider engagement and a methodology for identifying further providers has been developed.

An engagement model has been proposed which outlines specific pathways for ISC to encourage greater collaboration with solution providers across the red meat supply chain.

Benefits to industry

The outcomes of this project have outlined potential commercial partnership pathways, to ensure that the priorities of the ISC are met.

MLA action

  • ISC has developed a program called the "Solution Provider Network" to regularly communicate with existing and new solution providers.
  • ISC has created a communications plan to better engage with solution providers around program system changes. The engagement models recommended through the project continue to be developed.
  • Workshops have been successfully held to co-create opportunities, review ISC strategy and highlight collaboration and co-funding opportunities through MLA Donor Company.

Future research

A systematic approach to developing the engagement models and maintaining the solution provider database developed by this project would provide a strong basis to identify ongoing partners and engagement pathways that benefit Australia's red meat industry.
