Summary

BeefLinks is an RD&E partnership for the WA beef industry which aims to develop a more productive, sustainable and higher valued supply chain. The project will look at critical control points across the supply chain and use evidence collected from research and trials to provide new strategies for the management and movement of cattle.

Objectives

The project aims to deliver $72 million in net benefits to over 750 producers through increased production of saleable meat, increased weaning rates, a reduction in off-spec cattle and positive landscape management across the supply chain.The project aims to deliver $72 million in net benefits to over 750 producers through increased production of saleable meat, increased weaning rates, a reduction in off-spec cattle and positive landscape management across the supply chain.

The project will deliver environmental, marketing and financial benefits for industry.
Environmental benefits: BeefLinks explores ways that livestock and landscapes can be managed cohesively for productivity, environmental and biodiversity outcomes.
Marketing benefits: Consumers and retailers increasingly value products that can demonstrate sustainability credentials. BeefLinks delivers cutting edge science to enhance environmental outcomes, increase efficiency and reduce waste in the red meat sector.
Financial benefits: BeefLinks explores practical opportunities for producers and processors to increase the value of their red meat products.
