Operation Mary in full swing – NLIS compliance

19 April 2016

Over the coming months the NSW Department of Primary Industries is undertaking an NLIS compliance campaign code-named 'Operation Mary' at saleyards and processing plants across the state. The campaign aims to increase understanding and compliance with the NLIS system for sheep and goats.

The NSW Government has committed in its Memorandum of Understanding with NSW Farmers to continue the current NLIS system for sheep and goats and this commitment is premised on ongoing efforts by industry for improved traceability. In line with this, the Goat Industry Council of Australia (GICA) and NSW Farmers are supporting Operation Mary and remind all sheep and goat producers to ensure their stock are correctly tagged and the National Vendor Declarations (NVD) accompanying each mob are accurately completed.

For further information, regarding Operation Mary please contact John Dunn, Policy Director, Livestock on dunnj@nswfarmers.org.au or 02 9478 1035.
