MLA events to boost your grazing land management skills

04 April 2023

Discover the latest in research, trials, tools, and technology for the Australian red meat industry through MLA’s MeatUp and BeefUp forums.

MLA MeatUp and BeefUp initiatives have 11 forums lined up to be held across the country from March 2023.

Whether you’re a beef, sheep or goat producer, the events will help you update your skills and connect with others in the industry.

What’s involved

Delivered over a one or two-day period, the MeatUp and BeefUp forums include:

  • Presentations, panel sessions, Q&A and demonstrations.
  • Discussions with expert speakers, advisors, researchers and other liked minded producers.
  • Industry resources, plus a comprehensive program to take home.
  • Learn from other producers and network over food and drink.

This year, both programs have a focus on growing more from your feedbase with presentations on remote feedbase monitoring, pasture production, legumes and grazing land management.

MeatUp forums are designed for southern beef, sheep and goat producers whilst BeefUp forums are designed for northern beef producers.

Both programs provide information on the latest on-farm research and technology, sharing the outcomes of MLA projects, and the next steps to drive profitability and productivity on-farm.

What you will get out of it

Programs are planned with the support of local producer working groups who help to identify key topics, including grazing land management themes significant in your region.

Presentations will reflect your region and production systems, you’ll hear from producers with similar feedbase and seasonal climate to you, and about their experiences putting research and development into action.

Both forums will highlight training programs and resources available to you to upskill – whether that be through a field day, getting involved in a producer demonstration site, or participating in a training program – there’s something for everyone on offer.
